Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences: most East Belgian youths study here
If one wants to study in East Belgium after passing the Abitur, they must go to other, neighboring cities, unless he or she wants to be a preschool teacher, primary school teacher or nurse. These professions are taught by the only advanced school within the German Language Community in Eupen.
For decades, young people were used to finishing their continued education at universities and universities of applied sciences around East Belgium. Luckily, a good number of qualified, higher education schools are available within the near vicinity, while the multilinguism of this region enables a student to have access to a large selection of schools. The map shows these locations.
