E40 and E42, the economy’s veins

Two important European motorways, the E40 and E42, cross East Belgium.

E40: (8,000 km) from Calais in France through Brussels, Lüttich, Eupen, Cologne, Dresden, Poland, Ukraine, and Russia, to Leninogorsk in Kazakhstan

E42: (680 km) from Dünkirchen in France through Lille, Namür, Lüttich, Verviers, Malmedy, St. Vith, Frankfurt (E35/E451) to Aschaffenburg in Germany

They have established themselves as a life-giving connection to other European motorways for the local economy.
The traffic towards the local industrial areas comes mostly through these motorways.
